Star codes are known to be an easy way to enable or disable certain features in many Asterisk/IP systems.
Not all star codes work for all systems, however many of the important ones should work for most systems. Call
forwarding, call waiting activate and de-activate and DND are some of the more popular ones.
Star Codes are not only a fast way to set a feature they are also a quick way to troubleshoot an issue. If a person complains that they don't get their calls they can use some star codes as a way to see if certain features are activated that would prevent them from receiving their call, like Do Not Disturb.
